Black box Autotests 101

🎤 Speaker: Pavel Bogretsov — Software Engineer, organizer of GDG Minsk, ex Mentor at Android Academy Minsk. Is it worth testing "Black Box"? But what if the outputs data might be changing at runtime? And how is it possible to add automation if the code base is hidden? From the speech you will get out the history of the origin of these issues, I will describe and show an example Black Box system. We will find out how, in my case, Legacy Code has never interfered with automation. I’ll show what solutions were implemented and what kind of Test Pyramid turned out as a result.

From the speech you will know the history of these changes, the harsh present and how it relates to optimizing battery consumption. Since the dawn of time in Android, developers have been free to do whatever they want, there were no rules. But at one point, the Chosen One came - Android 5.0 Lollipop, which became the starting point of restrictions for the application to work in the background. Lollipop also decided that it was time to increase the operating time not only due to large batteries in devices, but also through optimizations in the operation of the OS and control of the application in the background. And off we go... Is it still possible to do something in the background on Android, or have we already become like on iOS? Do you still need a Service? How to cheat restrictions and work as before? Kirill will give answers to all these questions within the framework of the speech.
