Web backend consists of so many parts from when a request enters the server, through the business logic process, to finally serving the response. The main steps involved are input validation, authorization & authentication, database connection establishment, execution of business logic, error capturing/logging and output serialization.
In this talk, we start with an exploration of standard ways to design REST APIs and then walk through the series of steps mentioned above.
Then we will take a quick brief look into the following miscellaneous topics - MVC architecture, database pool, RBAC, JWT, ORM, basics of Async, Message Queues and finally protocols like RPC & GraphQL. The goal of this session is to get introduced to a wide range of terms/concepts and know their existence.
This talk aims to target beginner and mid-level backend developers who are experienced in writing REST APIs. The expectation of the talk is that everyone walks away with an end-to-end vision of backend development and also gets introduced to new web terms/concepts that one can delve deeper into later.
