This evening we want to spend on the topic of Information Security and have therefore invited experts to share their knowledge with us.

Women are highly underrepresented in the field of cybersecurity and if we look at the female internet security specialists in senior management positions we end up by an embarrassingly low number around 1%. Women often don’t see the occupation as a viable option due to a number of factors such as a lack of female role models within the industry and stereotyping.

At the same time our society is more technologically reliant than ever before and there is no sign that this trend will slow down. It has been estimated that more than 1 million security jobs worldwide are unfilled, that number is likely to increase. We rely on computer systems and network every day. Pair this with the rise of Cloud Services, Smartphones and the Internet of Things (IoT), we have a myriad of information security threats that didn't exist before even interfering with our private lives.

We want share with you why information security is a highly interesting career field especially now during the crisis and bring you together with women in the industry to share their career paths and advice.

Level: everyone!

Agenda for the evening

🍸 06:30 pm Virtual drinks and mingling (please bring your own drinks!)

🔊 06:40 pm Emerging Security Threats arising from Pandemic (Ejona Preci, Security Risk Manager, FREE NOW)

Ejona has over 10 years of professional experience in IT Auditing, Information Risk Assessment, IT Governance, Database Administration, Business Process Reengineering, BCM/DRP and Internal Controls across a wide variety of clients in industries including mobility, banking, telco, financial services, nonprofits, and other commercial entities. Through her Big 4 experience at Deloitte, Ejona has advised clients across the second and third lines of defense to align cyber risk management with organizational objectives. Ejona holds the CISM, ITIL v.4 and OCA certifications.

Ejona will talk about how the COVID-19 outbreak is shifting the way that society thinks about security. As the crisis has unfolded, companies have tried to adapt quickly. However, the capacity that has been developed to manage the risks has not kept pace with the assessed threat. With significantly more people working remotely, and an increase in the use of cloud-based services, the opportunities for hackers have increased exponentially, along with the potential rewards. Hackers love the “low hanging fruit” but we don’t want to be that fruit! Therefore, we should raise our awareness and employ a good cyber hygiene.

🔊 07:00 pm Information security in everyday life and why we as women should care about it (Mamta Vuppu, information security specialist)

As an information security specialist the day to day work involves analysing the client’s IT environment for any risks or security gaps and implementing solutions based on the industry standards using state of the art technology.
