Details & Speakers:

MOKLI – help finder app for young people in need

The NGO KARUNA from Berlin supports children and young people in difficult life situations. In addition to offering counselling and support, KARUNA also seeks to empower the children and young people concerned to organize their own short-term help in emergency situations. To make this option available quickly and easily all over Germany, the charity joined forces with Ubilabs to develop MOKLI, a mobile-first web application with an interactive map on which all important drop-in centers can be found.

Speaker: Frank Mecklenburg

Frank is a frontend developer at Ubilabs. After working in system analysis, operating, and databases, he joined the Ubilabs team 5 years ago. He’s the expert for integrating data in interactive maps with JavaScript and developing complex web apps. After work you’ll find him outdoors with his family, taking road trips around the world.

Voyager: Story-telling with the new Google Earth

With a major visual and functional refresh, Google Earth recently introduced exciting new features and tools. The highlight is Voyager, a storytelling platform with partner-authored content. Ubilabs is proud to be a contributor, supporting Google in the content production and processing for some of Voyager’s most exciting stories. Among them you’ll also find two of our projects, Google Earth View and the Miniatur Wunderland Street View Trek.

Speakers:

Patrick Mast

Patrick is Ubilabs’ all-rounder: a machine whisperer fluent in Dutch who juggles projects like no other. After his artificial intelligence studies in Amsterdam, the Swabian moved to Hamburg settling in the field of big data project management. For two years now, Patrick has been working as a project owner at Ubilabs specializing in the field of data visualization.

Franz Neubert

During the day, Franz Neubert rocks Ubilabs’ frontend; at night you’ll find him at metal concerts. After his computer science and media studies, the Franconian started working at the Hamburg office of the maps specialist, pushing projects with his WebGL, React und Mapbox GL skills. Check out his latest insights on creating weather maps with Mapbox GL JS at FOSS4G-E in Paris in July!

VR @ Ubilabs
