Our workshop is open to people with any level of programming background, especially newcomers, so invite friends and family members. Let's spread passion for building some (more or less) useful programs!
If you've always wondered what happens after you say "OK Google," join us at the ThoughtWorks office for a full-day event dedicated to learning about (and building!) Google Assistant actions and conversational interfaces. Actions let users get things done through a conversational interface that can range from a quick command to turn on some lights or a longer conversation, such as playing a trivia game. In just one day we learn to program a chatbot that you can integrate into Google Assistant, Facebook Messenger, Telegram and many others.
To participate, you don't need any programming knowledge or technical skill. We are going to walk you through the entire process — from designing a good conversational UI (intelligent interactions via voice) to working with DialogFlow (platform for writing the chatbots) — and then have a half-day hackathon where you will be able to build an action that you've always wanted.
Create something that would benefit your local community — a city, a neighborhood, a workplace, or even a hobby group!
By the end of the event, your team will have created a full-featured action and published it to the Google Assistant directory for everyone to use!
If you had any questions or just wanted to chat, join our #bafyc-workshop Slack channel: http://slack.wtmberlin.com/
The event is led by Anna Morgiel, Android Dev & voice UI enthusiast and Ed Medvedev, a public speaker and a Google Developer Expert, and supported by a group of wonderful volunteers.
