Delphine Nyaboke, a student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and a resident of Kibera, Africa's largest slums, who fought her way through a humble background and relentless educational hurdles for her dreams.
In her talk, Nyaboke reflects on her life journey with sheer positivity and steely will. She was first introduced to the realities of growing up in a poor family, when she first joined Joowi Primary School in the year 1995 in Kibera slums at a tender age of 6. Today she is in her fourth year pursuing BSc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, being a Techinal Mentor at the Teens in AI Africa organization, and the IEEE Power & Energy SocietyI Zero Hunger Day Ambassador and Chairperson of the Kenya Section, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Chapter.

★ THE SPEAKER ★
Delphine Nyaboke is an electrical and electronics engineering student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). She volunteers in societies and organizations. Delphine is the current IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Brand Ambassador, she also is the chair for IEEE PES (Power and Energy Society) JKUAT chapter. Delphine is also part of the IEEE Kenya Section, IEEE WIE (Women in Engineering) among other IEEE related programs.
Delphine is a member of SES (Society of Engineering Students) JKUAT in reach and Outreach Committee where she has helped getting the Kibera Slums Secondary Schools have a knowledge of different career choices especially STEM courses. She has received an award: Grace Hooper Celebration to attend from 1st through 4th October 2019 in Orlando, Florida.
Delphine aspires to pass info on as many schools going kids as possible, exposing them to new technologies and a coding camp too! (She is an intern at Global Minimum Inc (GMin)) and she is gearing the famous Innovate Kenya Challenge to include the schools from that region too. Learning Go will be a step in the right direction for the students.
In her free time, Delphine is a Tech Mentor in the ongoing Teens In AI Africa event.
