About this event

Do you want to learn how to protect yourself from being harrassed, hacked, or tracked in the digital space? Come to our first CryptoParty: an open workshop for introducing basic tools for protecting privacy, anonymity, and security on the Internet. There is absolutely no prior knowledge required: just bring your phone or laptop.

We will bring instructors from Private Matter—a project focused on building better, more secure internet—and have partnered with WeWork, who are hosting us in their wonderful Ku`Damm space.

★ What is a CryptoParty? ★

CryptoParty is a decentralized movement with events happening all over the world. The goal is to pass on knowledge about protecting yourself in the digital space. This can include encrypted communication, preventing being tracked while browsing the web, and general security advice regarding computers and smartphones.

CryptoParties are free and open for everyone, but especially those without prior knowledge, who haven't yet attended one.

★ Who is this for? ★

This is for everyone! You will get advice and some practical tips on online security and learn how to use tools for protecting your privacy on the Internet, which is what all of us need. No matter your level of knowledge, our event is an open environment to teach and learn from our instructors as well as each other.

★ Private Matter and our instructors ★

Karen Reilly is the Managing Director of Private Matter, a decentralized network project creating incentives and building blocks for developers to create apps that have privacy by design at their core. Previously, she worked on information security and censorship circumvention for NGOs, including The Tor Project.

Ed Medvedev is the Chief Technical Officer of Private Matter and one of the Women Techmakers Berlin organizers. He frequently takes part in information security competitions and likes to play around on the DEF CON network, often called the most dangerous network in the world.

★ WeWork ★

WeWork is a global network of workspaces where companies and people grow together. We transform buildings into dynamic environments for creativity, focus, and connection.
