Bio:
Melissa is a mentor at the renowned Chicago tech hub 1871. An entrepreneur since 2010, she has launched two successful business, doubled her monthly income, and created a true life by design, all while raising a six-year-old son. She has been the guest on numerous podcasts including “The Brave Entrepreneur” with Jena Rodriguez, “The Weekly Parady” with Heather Parady, and “Learn Grown Earn” with Mike Szczesniak.

Bio:
Awatif Yahya started her career in IT with a BSc in Information Technology from Leeds University, U.K, then pivoted to business functions, and obtained an MBA through a Fulbright Scholarship. She has fifteen years of industry work experience; ten of which are with British American Tobacco where her last role was Head of HR sitting on the executive board.

Awatif is passionate about organizations that are inspiring, motivating, safe and fun workplaces. She would like to see more organizations take the lead in employee development and engagement. For that reason, she channels her passion, academic training and work experience by offering workshops to business managers and entrepreneurs empowering them with the necessary tools to create productive and healthy work places.

She wants to share her knowledge and experiences to help both companies and their employees reach new horizons where tranquility exists between life and work. This is the mission of her company, Awe Horizons.

Talk Title: Leadership Skills Workshop
Description:
Understanding what leadership is, what it is not, and discussing the difference between leadership and dictatorship. The workshop will address the role of emotional intelligence in effective leadership, and dive into three leadership categories: People Leadership, Business Leadership and Strategic Leadership. There will be a fun activity to get participants off their seats and engaged with the topic.
