Speaker: Ray Tsang
Ray has extensive experience in hands-on and cross-industry enterprise systems integration, delivery and management. He specialized in middleware, Big Data, and PaaS products during his work at Red Hat, while contributing to open source projects, such as Infinispan. In Accenture, managed full-stack application development, DevOps, and ITOps. He created JDeferred, a promise framework for Java and Android developers. He works at Google as a Developer Advocate for the Google Cloud Platform.
Topic Title: "Introducing JDeferred, a Promises library to make Async easy"
Description:
JDeferred is a Promises library for Java designed to make asynchronous calls easier without the traditional Java's callback hell, or dealing with Java Future objects. In Android, JDeferred makes it simpler to create re-usable libraries that must run in the background threads, and relaying results back to the UI thread. In this session, we'll introduce JDeferred, understand Promises and the basics constructs, and see how you can use it to make a remote HTTP call easy. Towards the end, we'll also take a look at how it's being used in the wild and what's new coming for JDeferred 2.0!
Agenda:
6:00-6:30 pm - Check-In & Networking (with Food/Drinks)
6:30 pm - Nerd out with Ray on JDeferred!
8:30 pm - Q&A/Networking/Socializing
