PLEASE NOTE: This is a joint meetup for Silicon Valley JUG and GDG Silicon Valley. Please only RSVP in advance with one and not both Meetup groups. Thanks!
Agenda:
6:00-7:00: Socializing (Thanks JFrog & Google for food and drinks!)
7:00--7:10: Announcements
7:10--8:10: Introduction to Go - Bill Kennedy
8:10-8:30: Q&A
We are fortunate to have one of the best and most experienced Go trainers in the world joining us to present an introduction to Go programming.
Bill believes every developer and development team must develop a set of design philosophies that help to establish a set of guidelines. This is more important than developing a set of rules or patterns you apply blindly. Guidelines help to formulate, drive and validate decisions. You can't begin to make the best decisions without understanding the impact of your decisions. Every decision you make, every line of code you write comes with trade-offs.
When it comes to the Go programming language, Bill believes the language authors followed a set of design philosophies and guidelines that helped shape the language and its features. In this talk, Bill will discuss some of the design philosophies he believes are in sync with the Go programming language and how they can help you better understand the language and what it's attempting to accomplish.
