Join GDG Kansas City and learn about making apps for the Google Assistant and Actions on Google platform. This is a two-part series, starting with beginner-level information then we will build upon topics and ideas to create a real action for the Google Assistant with more advanced interactions. After the series, if you choose to, you'll have a chance to present an app using all the things you've learned to win prizes and bragging rights! ---------------------------- Note: You don't need to have attended the first meetup to attend the second. ---------------------------- Meetup 1: Making an App (4/17) At this meetup, we'll present several ways to make an app for the Google Assistant, from no-code options to some more complex ones. Topics will include features of Dialogflow, connecting your app to other data sources, and publishing your app. ---------------------------- *This meetup* The second meetup will explore more advanced topics. Attendees will learn how to create non-linear conversations, setup and utilize account linking, and more. ---------------------------- Actions For Your Community Competition This series will teach you how to build great actions for the Google Assistant. Take a stab at building your own! If you attend at least one of the Actions meetups, present your masterpiece for a chance to win prizes! The rules are simple: it has to be your creation (or a team) and that's it! It can be anything, but if possible, something that benefits the community (you can use any definition of "community"). Presentations will be at our Google I/O Roundup on May. Anyone that wants can present the app they built for a chance to win prizes and bragging rights! Need some ideas? The Google Fiber Space has a parking lot and there is street parking available. Please do not park in the church parking lot adjacent to Fiber as this is a private lot and you may be towed.
A laptop is highly recommended to put your new knowledge to work during the session and follow along, but not required.
