About this event

It is that time of year again - the DevFest season is upon us!

As it has become a tradition by now, we are happy to announce another installment of annual GDG Sacramento DevFest hackathon.

Based on the latest trends and your feedback after our talk a couple of months ago, we'll be focusing on Angular and AI for this devfest.

If you've never heard of Angular before, now is a great chance to learn!

You are welcome and greatly encouraged to contribute your own code during our session. But if you would prefer to focus on observing and learning instead, that's perfectly fine too! We'll have a big screen with live coding throughout the whole event.

We will also have a talk by Swapnil Patel:

Bots and Voice interface development

The best technology is the one that is invisible to the user.

Contextually aware conversations are now possible, making a variety of day-to-day tasks fast and easy to complete. With one simple voice command, it’s easy to perform routine and trivial tasks.

We are already seeing glimpses of this all throughout our lives. Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana are just the start. Countless messaging apps have provided APIs for their chat interfaces. Natural conversational interfaces are replacing the new apps. With building tools like - DialogFlow[Api.ai], wit.ai - you can now get your bot ready in minutes. Bots can be devised in minutes and can work with simple commands like- "Is it cold out?" or "Are my bedroom lights on?"

Join us to hang out in a relaxed live coding atmosphere, learn some new stuff or teach others about it, and participate in a raffle with great prizes at the end.

This is a full day event and lunch will be provided courtesy of TekSystems. We will also have coffee and bagels served in the morning. So all you have to do is show up!

Feel free to comment here or contact us directly if you have any questions about the event.
