Jetpack Compose is Google's next-generation native UI toolkit for Android. Taking inspiration from modern Reactive UI frameworks found on the web, Compose promises to empower developers with a more efficient way to build UIs, programmatically.
With the Android 11 beta launch, Compose is now in developer preview. Let's explore how to build a UI with Compose, and all the shiny new Android Studio tools that come with it.
About the Speaker
Etienne Caron is a software developer who's worked on all tiers (server, web, mobile and embedded) of large scale software platforms. He
is now a Staff Developer for Shopify. Etienne has been an active member of the Android developer community in Montreal since 2010, and regularly devotes his time to mentoring startups, developers and students in the mobile space.
Mentoring has included various subjects, such as client-server architecture, Android design patterns, continuous integration, software development methodologies and general software design. He also gives regular talks on Android-related subjects.
Previously, Etienne worked on projects ranging from high-availability stock trading software platforms, all the way to large scale municipal bike-sharing systems. He lives in Montreal with his wife and daughter, and speaks French and English fluently.
