Meet Emma Haruka, computer scientist from Google and the holder of Guiness World Record for most-calculated digits of number Pi!
About this Event
The teams of GDG Warszawa, GDG Cloud Warszawa, GBG Warszawa and Google DevReal are hosting this talk about how Emma broke the world record of Pi digit computation using cloud technologies.
Emma is a Japanese computer scientist and developer advocate for Google Cloud, focused on application development and high performance computing. She will talk about the process that took about four months and 200 TiB of storage. Record breaking Pi calculations have traditionally been done on supercomputers and custom tailored hardware, but she achieved it using the Cloud solutions. During this meeting she will discuss the nature of the calculation, the architecture, challenges and techniques, and of course the brief history of Pi computation.
Calculating Pi has been the speaker's childhood dream and this talk will also explain how the small dream grew to become the new world record.
