In this session, I’ll share my lessons learned from writing an A11y audit. You’ll get a deep dive into WCAG, understand the POUR principles, and learn how to translate accessibility findings into actionable tickets. We’ll take on the challenge of aiming for AAA accessibility—because why settle for just passing when you can truly excel? If you don't know Laura's Pokédex of A11y yet, now you will.

Are you ready to level up your accessibility knowledge? In this session, we’ll walk through my A11y audit template, learn how it’s helped me understand WCAG guidelines, and discover how you can use it to make impactful changes. I'll take a quick detour into how A11y can help you become active in open source, and how open source can help you improve your a11y skills.
Laura Wissiak will also join the session, and together we’ll dive deep into the POUR principles (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust) and discuss how to turn audit results into meaningful, actionable tickets that improve accessibility.
With her Pokédex of accessibility you will understand why aiming for AAA accessibility standards isn’t just a goal—it’s about striving for the best, just like in video games. Why play to just pass when you can master the game? Let’s elevate our accessibility efforts together!
Focus: A11y Audit, WCAG 2.1, POUR, Ticketing, Open Source
Target audience: Everyone (Project Managers, Designers, Developers, Testers, and Pokémon Lovers)

Accessibility Webinar Series is the new format here at GDG Vienna. Hosted by Julia Undeutsch, every 4th Thursday of the month a new topic in the field of accessibility will be presented, which should help beginners and intermediate accessibility advocates to become more familiar with accessibility in design, development and testing.
At the end of the series, participants can look forward to a live event directly in Vienna, which will be held in autumn.
Events are held in English and last between 60-90 minutes. Afterwards, the speakers will be available for a Q&A. Questions can be asked in English or German. Questions can be asked about the respective presentation but also about accessibility in general.
Recording, slides and article can be found afterwards on the event page and on Accessibility First.
