About this event

We're very excited to announce that Chad Gilhoi will join us to walk through some of the basics of working with Google Home

Tentative Schedule
6:30 - Snacks and socializing *
7:00 - Short greeting and intro by GDG Organizer
7:15 - Google Home: Have fun now, cash in later
8:30 Adjourn *please show up as close to on time as possible. Agosto is generous with their space after business hours. Early arrivals cannot be accommodated. If you need to travel early, there are great happy hour specials at Darby's Pub, about 1 block north, and there are a number of cafes and restaurants nearby*

Google Home: Have fun now, cash in later
Learn how to use API.AI to create and deploy Actions on Google. Although developers can currently only deploy actions to Google Home, this is likely to change in the near future and promises be available on all phones with the Google Assistant. Google and API.AI are rolling out new capabilities all the time and will soon turn this into a very powerful platform. We will take a look at a few Actions I've created and deployed and see how users are reacting. We will also have a simple workshop to develop an Action which interfaces with Node.js for fulfillment. I'd also love to hear your thoughts on where you think this platform could be headed!
