Join us at our next meetup event on Solving Accessibility Challenges in Native Mobile Apps.
This time, we are collaborating with #a11yTO. Our friends at #a11yTO run an amazing international accessibility conference with hundreds of attendees. They also host a free A11y Camp for local Toronto accessibility professionals to share exciting insights from their projects. If accessibility is a topic you are interested in, #a11yTO is a group you would join!
When talking about digital accessibility, the current main emphasis is still web-related. One of the biggest challenges for mobile app developers is that when searching for information about mobile accessibility, most of the results are related to mobile web. Even with the almighty ChatGPT, it would recommend developers to use correct HTML semantic tags for native Kotlin and Swift apps. While it may be a relief that AI does not have all the answers yet, it presents a challenge to native mobile developers when trying to address accessibility.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to learn about:
Code-based solutions and design recommendations for native mobile to solve common accessibility problems.
The challenges of Native vs. Web.
Accessibility tools available on mobile devices.
For this session, we have invited a highly experienced accessibility specialist, Vaibhav Saraf. He will be talking about the important concepts to keep in mind when developing an Android app that is compatible with assistive technologies like screen readers. While the code examples primarily relate to Kotlin for Android apps, iOS developers may still benefit from the concepts behind them.
Whether you are an experienced mobile developer trying to figure out accessibility for native apps, or someone with an interest in learning about the topic, you are warmly welcomed to join us!
