We will have two talks for the evening: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Building for the Google Assistant (Tom Greenaway) Learn about building Google Assistant Apps using the Actions on Google platform and DialogFlow as well as some tips, tricks and best practices for building a great conversational experience. Architecture Components - Use Cases (Florina Muntenescu) The Architecture Components set of libraries help you design robust, testable, and maintainable apps. In this talk we’ll discuss what each of these libraries do, and look at the patterns and anti-patterns that you should follow. We’ll also dive into the important issue of where data should be saved to minimise requests: the database, ViewModel, or onSavedInstanceState? Finally, we’ll discuss the Paging library, the latest addition to the Architecture Components. You’ll learn about how the Paging library works and find out why and how you should use it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are a few details about our speakers: Tom Greenaway Tom is part of the Developer Relations team working with key partners to bring the best Google technology to users everywhere. Before joining Google he ran his own independent game studio. As an expert in web, mobile game, UI and UX design he is excited to be exploring the new challenges that voice user interface design brings and discovering how to make these interfaces fun and engaging. Florina Muntenescu Florina is working as an Android Developer Advocate at Google, helping developers architect clean, testable apps using the Architecture Components libraries. She has been working with Android for 8 years, previous work covering news at upday, payment solutions at payleven and navigation services at Garmin.
