Key advancements include specialized AI agents for various user roles, AI-assisted notebooks, and the BigQuery AI Query Engine handling structured and unstructured data, alongside enhanced governance and open ecosystem support. Metadata is crucial for these innovations. For instance, BigQuery metadata (like schemas, data types, and access controls) provides critical context, allowing AI agents to understand data nuances, improve data discovery, ensure governance, and optimize query performance, leading to much more accurate and relevant results from agent interactions.
