About this event

As you start out in your software engineer career, life is easy. You may have just graduated from engineering school, or a boot camp or just became fascinated by technology. Landing your first “dream gig” is where your mind is at, but as you enter the workforce and experience different companies, you begin to realize that the world of software engineering careers is vast. There’s no common definition of a “senior engineer”, companies vary between hybrid ICs + managers to distinct IC or Management tracks, and the choices become overwhelming. In the end, you may form one opinion or another based on your own experiences. In this talk, I’ll walk through the various options, and weave my own personal experiences as an IC, a startup leader designing levels and now an engineering leader helping ICs and managers figure out their own paths.
