About this event

Dart! Polymer! Web components! Buzz words! Learn the facts behind the hype. Can you really build new HTML elements for your web apps? Why would you want to? How is it done? In this code lab, we'll briefly go over the background of these new technologies and, together, build a simple Polymer Dart web application to gently introduce some of the key concepts.

Bonus: Even though we'll be using the Dart language to demonstrate the concepts, anyone who's interested in using PolymerJS (Polymer for JavaScript) will find the majority of the material directly relevant.

Setup: We'll try to spend some time up front getting everyone's development environments rolling, but if you want to get a head start, pull up the Dart Tools page and grab the SDK, Dartium, and an IDE or editor.

Prizes: At the end of the meet there will be a short survey. Give us a little feedback and be entered to win awesome prizes from Google's quarterly giveaway! The winner will get to choose a prize: a Nexus 9 tablet, an Acer 13 Chromebook, or an LG G Watch R. The Q2 and Q3 winners were recently announced. Don't miss your chance for Q4!

More Prizes: We may just be raffling off a free JetBrains WebStorm license during the meetup. You must be present to win.

Location: Our group will be meeting in the Front Conference Room (BR 102). Just as you enter the building, the room is on the right. There will be signs.
