Polymer Dart Code Lab: Google Maps

GDG Salt Lake City

About this event

Join us as we walk you, step-by-step, through the process of creating a fully functional Google Maps web app with Polymer Dart and custom elements from Polymer's Google Web Components collection. With Polymer custom HTML elements and data binding, you'll see that it's possible to put together an advanced application using little or no imperative (Dart or JavaScript) code.

Bonus: Even though we'll be using the Dart language to demonstrate the concepts, anyone who's interested in using PolymerJS (Polymer for JavaScript) will find the majority of the material directly relevant.

Setup: We'll try to spend some time up front getting everyone's development environments rolling, but if you want to get a head start, pull up the Dart Tools page and grab the SDK, Dartium, and an IDE or editor.

Prizes: At the end of the meet there will be a short survey. Give us a little feedback and be entered to win awesome prizes from Google's quarterly giveaway! The winner will get to choose a prize: a Nexus 9 tablet, an Acer 13 Chromebook, or an LG G Watch R. The Q2 and Q3 winners were recently announced. Don't miss your chance for Q4!

More Prizes: We may just be raffling off a bit of swag. You must be present to win.

Location: Our group will be meeting in the Front Conference Room (BR 102). Just as you enter the building, the room is on the right. There will be signs.
