About this event

Appathon'25 is the 5th edition of the premier annual mobile app development competition organized by the GDG SALEM AND GDGOC SONA  College of Technology. This 12-hour coding challenge is designed to foster innovation, problem-solving, and industry-academia collaboration by engaging developers and buddy engineers in real-world application development.

Event Highlights:

  • No Registration Fee
  • Registration Process: Upon successful registration, the problem statement for the preliminary round will be shared with the Team Leader.
  • Preliminary Round
    • Each team must select one problem statement and develop a solution.
    • The solution should be hosted on GitHub, accompanied by a 2-minute video introducing the team, explaining the technologies and tools used, and providing a walkthrough of the application.
    • Submission Deadline: April 5, 2025.
    • 40 teams will be shortlisted from this round.


  • Only mobile applications are accepted.


  • Final Round – April 17, 2025 (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM)
    • Each team will consist of three members.
    • 6:00 AM: Problem statements will be released.
      • Selection is based on First Come, First Serve (FCFS), with each problem statement limited to three teams.
    • 6:00 AM – 8:30 AM: Submission and initial review of the Software Requirement Specification (SRS) document.
    • 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Detailed review and feedback on the submitted SRS.
    • 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Teams must develop and complete the primary three use cases.
    • 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Midway review session to assess progress.
    • 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Teams will continue developing the remaining use cases and refining their applications.
    • 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Final round of review to assess completed applications


  • Teams must bring their own devices; necessary support will be provided by the organizers.


  • Organizers will be available throughout the event to clarify any doubts regarding the use cases.


  • Outcomes of the Event
    • Fully Functional Mobile Applications: Teams will develop and present working prototypes based on real-world problem statements.
    • Industry Exposure: Participants will gain hands-on experience in solving practical challenges, enhancing their technical and problem-solving skills.
    • Innovation & Creativity: The event will foster creative thinking and innovative solutions in mobile app development.
    • Collaboration & Teamwork: Teams will experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, improving their teamwork and communication skills.
