About this event

Our main talk this month will be by Yash Prabhu on implementing Material Design:

Are you a developer who has heard of Material Design but not sure where to get started? Are you envious of apps like Google Play, Youtube, or Gmail that use fancy animations, beautiful colors, and papercraft effectively? This talk will bridge the gap between Google’s Material design documentation and the Android developer documentation to help you build apps with engaging user experience utilizing material design principles.

You will also learn how to

• implement the basics of standard UI elements that are used across most apps like Navigation Drawer, Floating Action Button, Tabs, Grids, CardView, RecyclerView and Coordinator Layout

• use the AppCompat library and the Design Support library to implement Material design going all the way back to Android Eclair (2.1)

We will also have other lightning talks. If you'd like to talk about something, please contact us on slack (phillydev.org / #android-philly channel), twitter (@androidphilly) or email (androidphilly[at]gmail.com)
