Abstract:
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is a powerful technique to enhance the accuracy of responses from Large Language Models (LLMs) by incorporating non-public, context-specific data into the prompt. In this session, we’ll explore how to implement RAG using AlloyDB, Google Cloud’s high-performance PostgreSQL-compatible database, to store and perform semantic search on vector embeddings—enabling precise retrieval based on natural language queries. We’ll also leverage Vertex AI, Google Cloud’s unified platform for generative AI, and use Gemini Pro, a multimodal foundation model capable of understanding long-context prompts and rich media formats such as images, audio, video, and PDFs. Together, these tools enable the creation of a smart, context-aware chat application powered by LLMs.
