The Purdue GDG and Purdue Hackers are excited to propose a collaborative event focused on building a web application that displays a randomly accessed photo from the connected Google Photos account using the power of Google's Gemini, React, Google Apps Script, and Google Photos. This event will be a hands-on workshop/hackathon where participants will learn to:
Leverage Gemini: Explore how to use Gemini to generate code snippets and assist in building the React frontend of our application.
Develop with React: Gain practical experience building a user interface with React, a popular JavaScript library for building user interfaces.
Utilize Google Apps Script: Learn to create a serverless backend using Google Apps Script, connecting it to Google Sheets for data storage.
Integrate with Google Photos: Discover how to access the Google Photos API to retrieve and display user photos, including a feature to randomly select and display an image.
Collaborate and Learn: Work in teams (or individually) to build a functional web app, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst participants.
