About this event

On 20th September 2024, the event will commence with a warm welcome extended to all the attendees, including the respected Director of GITS Campus, Dr. NS Rathore, the esteemed guest for the day, Mr. Akshay Nandwana, as well as the heads of departments, faculty members, and students. This gathering will set the tone for an insightful session focused on exploring the opportunities offered by the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) and the impact of Google Developer Groups (GDG).

The event will then proceed with an introduction to GDG. It will be explained that GDG is a global community of developers who come together to collaborate, share ideas, and grow their knowledge in various technical domains. The importance of these groups in empowering local developers to hone their skills and contribute to the global tech ecosystem will be emphasized.

Following this, the audience will be introduced to GSoC. This program, initiated by Google, offers students a platform to work on open-source projects, mentored by experts. It is an invaluable opportunity for young developers to gain hands-on experience in real-world projects and contribute to the larger open-source community.

Next, there will be a formal introduction of the guest speaker, Mr. Akshay Nandwana. Mr. Nandwana will be recognized for his extensive experience as an Android Engineer, having worked with organizations like Google, Zee5, and Doubtnut, and for his current collaboration with the United Nations. His contributions to the open-source community and his role as a mentor to over 1,000 aspiring developers will be highlighted. The audience will also learn about his journey as a former Google Developer Student Clubs Lead, and his recognition at Google I/O 2018.

After the introduction, Dr. NS Rathore and Dr. Mayank Patel will proceed with the formal felicitation of Mr. Nandwana, acknowledging his significant contributions to the field of technology and his influence on the developer community.

Dr. Rathore will then deliver a speech, which will focus on the institution's ongoing efforts to support students in their participation in global initiatives like GSoC. He will reflect on the importance of fostering innovation and providing platforms for students to engage in meaningful projects.

Following the Director's speech, there will be a segment highlighting GITS’s contributions over the past two years in GDG and GDSC. This will showcase the achievements of the students, particularly their involvement in GSoC, and outline the goals and plans for the current year.

The event will then transition into the main session, where Mr. Akshay Nandwana will take the stage to share his experiences. He will provide insights into his journey, focusing on Android development, open-source contributions, and the importance of programs like GSoC in shaping young developers' careers.

The event will conclude with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Mayank Patel, expressing gratitude to Mr. Nandwana, the Director, faculty, and all attendees for their participation and contributions to making the event a success.
