5:45pm  WELCOME

Announcements from Organizers

6:00pm  FEATURED TALK

Title: "What You Should Be Worrying About Now"

Google I|O 2016 is behind us, and we are nearing the release
of Android N. As usual during these annual periods, there is a lot of churn in the Android development world, both strategic (do we worry about Chrome OS?) and tactical (what did Google go and break this time?).

In this presentation, we will review some of the changes coming out of Android N and Google I|O, with a particular emphasis on the sorts of things that you should focus on during the rest of 2016. Along the way, we will touch upon multi-window support, Android Studio 2.2 and the new ConstraintLayout, new features with notifications, and more!

Speaker: Mark Murphy

Mark is the founder of CommonsWare and the author of The Busy Coder’s Guide to Android Development. He is active in supporting the Android developer community, from answering questions on Stack Overflow to publishing sample code and reusable components as open source. A three-time entrepreneur, his experience ranges from consulting on open source and collaborative development for the Fortune 500 to application development on a myriad of platforms

6:45pm BREAK (Q&A, NETWORKING)

7:00pm  TECH TALK

Title: Developing the Future of TV

Oddworks is an open source platform created by Odd Networks for Television and mobile content. It consists of a server and SDK which can be paired to deliver video content across platforms to Apple TV, FireTV, Roku, Android TV, mobiles, and tablets. There is also a hosted service which you can sign up for and use the API for free to develop your new TV apps.

The Odd team will demo how you can get started and launch your own TV channel in 15 minutes, and then get into the details of all the ways you can use it to build a TV brand.

Speakers: Kris Walker & Blain Smith (OddNetworks)

Kris Walker is President and co-founder of Odd Networks. Kris has been developing embedded media and web applications for nearly 10 years. He's worked with engineering and design teams to build interactive guides for the Smithsonian and Universal Studios, early HTML5 mobile applications, interactive handbooks for surgeons on iPad and iBooks, and gaming and entertainment applications on Xbox.

Blain Smith has been designing systems, writing software, and leading teams for over 20 years for digital media, entertainment, finance, research, and higher education. Blain craves solving the hard problems no one else wants to tackle and the next problem is giving everyone on the planet an opportunity to have their own video channel on every platform.

7:45pm TECH TALK

Title: "From Cardboard to Daydream - The Evolution of VR on Android"

From Cardboard to Daydream is about the evolution of VR on Android, a bit of history, the innovations spun by Google's VR efforts and what does your app needs to be a Daydream app. The presentation includes a code walkthrough and even a small app demo.

Speaker:  Oscar Salguero started coding at 12 and has worked in companies of all sizes across the continent, he has co-founded startups, and worked with a wide range of technologies, worked as a Java Web Developer for 10 years and since 2008 he has been creating native iOS and Android apps; software written by him is installed in 50+ countries and serves millions of users.
