Web Capabilities (project Fugu) is an effort to eliminate the gap between what native applications can do and what is possible on the web. A handful of the new and powerful APIs makes it possible for web applications to interact directly with hardware:
Web Bluetooth (BLE devices using GATT)
WebHID (HID devices - not limited to keyboards, mice, gamepads, etc.)
Web Serial (any device providing a serial port in the system)
Web NFC (read and write NFC tags)
WebUSB (direct USB communication)
In this interactive session, we’ll look at how it’s possible to build simple web drivers for different hardware, using a few of these APIs:
An off-the shelf LEGO Remote controller (Web Bluetooth)
3DConnexion SpaceBall (drivers no longer available- WebHID comes to the rescue)
If time permits, we’ll also cover how to create your own firmware (using Zephyr RTOS) and accompanying web driver (Web Bluetooth) for custom solutions.
This is an interactive session, where questions and discussion is encouraged
