Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is an online program where students and beginners to open source software development thrive under the guidance of dedicated mentors for the 12+ week program. Now in its 19th year, GSoC gives new contributors 18 years and older invaluable real world experience with the opportunity to work on an open source project that interests them while refining skills, building their confidence, growing their networks and earning a stipend along the way.
The 2023 program will be announcing the accepted mentoring organisations in late February making the timing for the Mons GDG meetup perfect for anyone interested in applying to the 2023 Google Summer of Code program.
Come join us to hear more about why Google Summer of Code is a great opportunity for students and beginners to open source development along with tips on how to make your application stand out!
The Google Season of Docs (GSoD) program supports better documentation in open source and provides opportunities for skilled technical writers to gain open source experience. Open source organisations submit a project proposal and proposed budget to GSoD. Accepted projects receive funds to create, improve, or expand their documentation.
