Join Frank / puf to learn about the latest updates and changes to Firebase, including the hidden wonders of App Check, all about the official Flutter support, and the swath of new features that are made possible by the Identity Platform upgrade to Firebase Authentication
7:00-7:30pm - Talk 2 - Marina Coelho / Rosário P. Fernandes
Firebase and the new Android 13 features
Android 13 has started rolling out to some devices and your users will certainly have it soon. Now would be the best time to adapt to the behavior changes and new features that came out with this new version of the operating system.
In this session, Marina and Rosário will go over features such as the new notification permission, per-app language preferences and high priority FCM quotas.
Expect to get out of the session some of the best practices on how to adapt your current FCM and Firebase Auth implementations to target Android 13.
7:30-8:00pm - Q&A with the Firebase Team (Frank, Andrea, Marina, Rosario)
Frank van Puffelen (puf) is a Firebase engineer at Google in San Francisco, where he helps developers build better apps using Firebase and other Google technologies. He's the host of the Firebase Release Notes video series, one of the top contributors on Stack Overflow, and multi-time speaker at Google I/O.
Marina Coelho worked as a software developer for eight years before joining the Firebase team as a Developer Relations Engineer. Her mission is to help developers excel in building great apps using Firebase products. She is from South Brazil and recently moved to London, only to find out that there are no less than three other Brazilian people on the Developer Relations teams at Google.
Rosário P. Fernandes is a Developer Relations Engineer on the Firebase Team, mainly focused on helping developers integrate Firebase into their Android App Development workflows. He’s originally from Mozambique, but is now based in London.
Andrea Wu is a developer relations engineer who spends the majority of her time coming up with ideas on how to help developers use Firebase, resulting in a lot of content like blogs, videos, external documentation, and presentations. In her past life, she was a software engineer building pretty sweet features for Firebase, Yahoo Finance's mobile web and Android app, and Cisco's ASA Firewall. As she also greatly cares about diversifying the tech industry, she teaches and mentors students typically underrepresented in tech through various education equity efforts across Google and for non-profits, and in her free time, you can find her hiking and running in nature with her camera, meeting people from all over the world as she lives nomadically, writing, and trying food from every culture.
