About this event

The wait is over! We are back with our meetups, only this time online given current circumstances. We really hope you had been keeping safe and socially distancing!

If you have missed the latest Android 11 announcements and the 11 weeks of Android which revealed a lot of new features, tools, guides and frameworks, join us to get an update!

And this time we have got two international speakers!

Meet Douglass Sillars, Freelance Developer Advocate/Solutions Architect, all the way from UK, who'd be talking about, "How fast is your Android App?"

"Slow Android applications cause customer frustration, Frustration leads to less frequent use and uninstalls. One easy step to improve the performance of your application is to identify assets that are transmitted over the network and to optimise them In this talk, I'll walk through approaches to test your mobile app's data footprint, and provide suggestions on how to make improvements to lessen the data usage, and speed the delivery of assets over high latency mobile networks. After this talk, you'll understand why this testing is important, several techniques to test, and some "gotchas" to look out for."

Our other speaker for the night is Belal Khan, founder at Simplified Coding, all the way from India, talking about "What's new in Jetpack Compose?"

"Are you tired building your application’s UI the Old School Way using XML? Here we have Jetpack Compose that will fulfil our wish of building an android app’s UI the modern way.

Jetpack Compose simplifies and accelerates UI development on Android. Quickly bring your app to life with less code, powerful tools, and intuitive Kotlin APIs."
