With the old Wifi Direct, Android Peer-to-Peer was a bit flaky. It could be made to work, but it wasn’t fun. Nearby takes the pain out of it, and adds in the ability to leverage Bluetooth, BLE and even ultrasonic communication between devices with the same APIs.
