How do we drive greater gender balance on MENA boards in technology companies?
A report by the Hawkamah Institute of Corporate Governance revealed that women in the GCC account for just 1.5 percent of corporate board seats. While, according to the 2020 World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report, at the current rate of progress, it would take the MENA region 140 years to close the economic gender gap.
At the same time, the market power of increasing women’s participation in the workforce, could add an estimated $2.7 trillion to the Middle East’s economy by 2025. This session will touch upon how we close the gap between the demand and supply of potential female directors in the tech industry, to accelerate our social and economic progress.
For MENA organizations in Tech: This session will offer some strategic recommendations for overcoming the challenges that large and small tech companies face in diversifying their boards, how to build high performing diverse boards, and how that can correlate with positive business results.
For MENA women in Tech: This session will offer recommendations on how to become a board member—including how to get your first board position—and preparing for board directorship.
