We are excited to be hosting Compose Camp in a hybrid format (virtual and in person in Santa Monica)! This workshop is open to all: previous programming experience is not required, but you will need to supply your own laptop that meets the minimum system requirements.
Compose Camp is an event series for people who are new to Android development and want to learn how to build apps using Jetpack Compose, which is Android’s modern UI toolkit. By participating in Compose Camp, you’ll learn in a group setting with other people, to keep you motivated through the journey and to lean on each other for support. We will be working through a curriculum that is offered by Google on Android development. You’ll learn the basics of the Kotlin programming language and how to build a collection of basic Android apps that you can customize as you desire.
We will be covering Unit 1 of the curriculum, which is all available online. We are asking all participants to complete some prerequisites prior to the workshop, as we will be starting the in-person instruction at Unit 1, Pathway 3.
You can follow the instructions at:
For in-person participants, please bring your laptop computer and headphones. If you have an Android device, feel free to bring it, but it is not required.
No programming experience is needed! If you’ve been wanting to learn how to build apps, this is your chance. Invest the time in upskilling yourself to learn the foundations of building modern Android apps with the support of our community, and who knows where that will you lead you!
