Please note that registration is needed to enter the event - We will not be able to grant access on the day without a ticket. Please show proof of ticket confirmation upon arrival. 
International Women’s Day (IWD) #DareToBe is Women Techmakers’ largest annual event campaign where Ambassadors host events all around the world during the months of March and April in celebration of this moment. 
IWD is a time to host events that create connections, educate and inspire your tech community. IWD is also a way in which we support our mission of building a world where all women thrive in tech.
The definition of to dare is to have the courage to try something new; to defy or challenge norms; to be brave and willing take risks. 
When we Dare to Be: we explore what it would mean to be audaciously bold, to walk through the world with courage and confidence. We are willing to try something new, to step outside of our comfort zone and to be unapologetically ourselves. We don’t let societal or cultural roles or norms dictate who we are or how big we can dream.
The beauty of “Dare To Be” is that it is part of a larger sentence: you can dare to be bold, to be innovative, to be resilient - it can apply to so many aspects of our lives. And to approach the theme from this perspective - to allow anyone to imagine what they dare to be - we recognize that each of us has something unique to offer. Everyone brings a different set of skills and strengths to the table. And when we as a community are able to harness the diversity of all those skills and courageous actions, we are able to continue our goal to build a world where all women can thrive in tech.

Lara Suzuki - Keynote	Do data, AI, and Interplanetary Internet spark your interest? Lara Suzuki is a Technical director in the Office of CTO at Google. She will open the conference with her #DareToBe story.
Emily Hall-Strutt - Dare to be: The role model you wish you'd had	"If you can see it, you can be it." Many studies have shown the importance of role models in increasing gender diversity in the tech industry. In this session you'll learn how to become the role model you wish you'd had when you were younger, to inspire the next generation to follow in your footsteps and help close the gender gap. Allies are also encouraged to get involved!
Nageela Yusuf - From dev bootcamp to your first £10,000 in revenue: how to build & commercialise your SAAS platform	When you launch a start-up, often you are the only developer and have to wear multiple hats to get things off the ground. If you’re looking to succeed as a tech founder, especially if you belong to one of the less-represented minorities, this talk is for you. Along the way, we’ll touch on monolith vs microservices architecture, managing technical debt, what constitutes a minimum viable product, and raising finance as a female entrepreneur.
Jai Campbell - Cloud Engineering. Security on the Google Cloud Platform (Workshop)	The workshop's content will focus on how to achieve security on your own personal projects and projects that you may be working on in a professional capacity on Google Cloud and other CSPs, these will include native tooling within GCP and open source tools, principles, patterns and practices. Furthermore, we will talk about how Google achieves security across Google Cloud and its various products. We will conclude with information on how to certify as a Google Cloud Security Engineer and will be taking Q&A throughout the workshop.
Lauren Cartigny - Discover The Science of You to Find Peace, Power and Purpose (Workshop)	In this 2 hours workshop I share the fundamentals of multi-dimensions of well-being to help people think differently about well-being to help them unlock new self-awareness live in the session. We will look at The Process Communication Model® to help the audience understand a proven framework to better understand the structure of their personality and personality traits and how they can predictable stress behaviours which are damaging to our well-being. PCM is used by the largest companies in the world and Nasa use it to select and predict behaviour of astronauts under stress.
Nina Ma - Navigating Neurodiversity in Tech: Embracing Differences for Success	Neurodiversity is an often-misunderstood topic in the workplace, and it can be especially challenging for individuals in the tech industry. In this talk, I will provide insight into what it means to be neurodivergent, and how to create an inclusive and supportive work environment for neurodivergent individuals in tech. Drawing from my personal experiences as a neurodivergent individual, I will explore the strengths and challenges associated with different neurodivergent conditions such as ADHD, dyslexia and autism, etc., and how they can contribute to success in tech.
Nataliia Pelykh - Your personal brand as a tool of career progression	Personal brand matters more than you think. Especially if you try to switch your role or move to a new geography. In these cases no one can simply relate to your previous achievements, they expect more. Grace Yusuf - How to use Google like a developer	Come to this session to learn clever tips and tricks on using Google to quickly solve bugs, find development resources, and accelerate your tech career. We will also see how to use Google to solve more uncommon programming issues as you progress in your career in tech.
Mukhayyo Tashpulatova - Maximising Human Potential with Emotion and Expression AI	Behavioural Computer Science, as a field, has the potential to shape the future of technology and human-computer interaction. Emotion and Expression AI is closely related to it. In this session we will understand what mission drives these technologies and why they are important? At the end of the session I will show a demo of Emotion and Expression AI.
Renuka - Quick build multilingual app with Flutter and Firebase Extension (Workshop)
Isha Upadhyay, Ayesha Bhatti, and Christenica Malonzo - The problem of AI	There have been many cases where AI has shown bias amongst people with different backgrounds, or preferences for males over females. High bias can stem from multiple things including poor data results, preparation, or collection techniques. Training the AI algorithm with data that contains indirect prejudices can result in an algorithm with high bias which leads to inherently biased results. Given the ever-increasing reliance on AI, including the recent success of the likes of ChatGPT and Microsoft’s improved Bing search engine, it is crucial we know how to integrate tech into our lives that does not perpetuate the same bias or discriminatory tendencies humans do. In this talk, we will challenge traditional AI practices by looking at how to build an unbiased and trustworthy AI with what is currently available in the tech space.
Alice Pacuraru, Lottie Carr and Eugenia Vuong - A conversation between tech graduates	During the pandemic, three graduates entered the tech industry through different paths: joining predominantly male or female teams, making a career change, or alternative routes. In a podcast-style conversation, they share their experiences, and give advice on how to overcome their generations' unique challenges.

Let's talk about the first steps we can take to reduce carbon emissions by making small changes to how we host, design and develop our digital products.

Sunaina Aytan - Why women can help solve the Cyber Security skills crisis (Workshop)	As global demand for unfilled cybersecurity talent is not counting in millions and cyber crime continues to dominate media headlines, it’s time for women to come to the rescue. This session will provide guidance and equip attendees with the confidence and skills needed to pursue a career in cybersecurity. We will dive into the life of a cyber security specialist whilst knocking down the misconceptions of what a ‘hacker’ should look like. Conversations on why women play a crucial role for the advancement of the cyber industry will be triggered in an interactive format.
Ines Akrap - Reducing the carbon footprint of your website	Even though digital sounds and feels green, reality is much different. Digital technologies are actually responsible for about 4% of carbon emissions, while air travel accounts for 2.5% and the whole country of India for 7%. How we design and develop our websites can have a huge impact on the overall carbon footprint of the Internet. In this session, I would like to show you how to measure your website's carbon footprint and provide you with some design and development strategies to help reduce it.
