Have you ever wondered how and where Google saves all those videos and makes real-time highly accurate recommendations for users based on their preferences?

In this Study Jam, we will explore many aspects of YouTube's ecosystem and build on this knowledge by building our very own website utilizing the superpowers of the Cloud.

We will take a look at the software and hardware components that stitch the entirety of YouTube's infrastructure together, examples include AI/ML, storage, compute, and networking services.

We shall take a deep dive and look at the ways in which SRE enables the platform to be globally reliable and highly available.

Take a walk through some of the new projects (experiments) that YouTube is working on and how they may be introduced to the platform.

Optional Hands-On Workshop - You will have the opportunity to build a website on Google Cloud.

At the event, we’ll use a tool called Qwiklabs, a Google training product.

If you have used Qwiklabs before, great! Make sure you know your password. If you have never used Qwiklabs before, save time by creating an account for yourself prior to the class at: https://google.qwiklabs.com/users/sign_up

At the event, we will give you a link for free Qwiklabs access. Make sure you check the opt-in box for promos! That makes you eligible for additional free access after you complete the first series of labs.

The study session does not require a laptop, for those wishing to have some hands-on in GCP please use a (PC, Mac, or Chromebook)! The labs will run on all of the latest versions of the popular browsers. For the best experience, make sure your laptop has Firefox or Chrome installed.
