Upasna is a Senior Product Management leader on the Platforms team at CNN, where she leads the development of the content management technology that delivers breaking news to the world. Upasna has been working in the tech industry for the last 15 years and has been an integral part of building technical, data-informed solutions for brands such as Ford Motor Company, Valvoline, PCMag, Mashable, Mars Corporation, and Kimberly-Clark. Outside of her day job at CNN, Upasna is the Chair of the Board of Directors at the News Product Alliance. She’s also a Community Lead with Google's Women Techmakers, freelance journalist at CNN, angel investor, content creator, and new mother.

Talk #2   Empowering Paths: Navigating Career Choices

For our second talk this evening we will be hosting WTM speaker Ms. Iris Yuning Ye who is a Graduate Student Instructor at Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences (QMSS) Program at LSA and School of Information at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Iris is passionate about women empowerment and excited to share her perspectives. The talk begins by delving into the observed challenges that Gen Z college students encounter while navigating career choices. This struggle is not exclusive to students but resonates across all stages of a woman's life. Participants will leave the talk with a renewed sense of agency in their career choices, armed with practical tools for self-exploration. "Empowering Paths" seeks to inspire young women of color to embrace their natural superpowers, unique strengths, fostering a resilient mindset in the face of the digital age's ever-changing landscape.

More about our speaker

Iris Yuning Ye is a Graduate Student Instructor at Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences (QMSS) Program at LSA and School of Information at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She realized the importance of self-exploration through her own experience and her research. Her research focuses on development finance, user identity and innovative education methods. She has 3+ years product management and information architecture experience among startups and developed tech companies. Her products have been ranging widely from AI, NLP to user experience. Outside of research and product, she is also a Strength and Conditioning Coach and classical violinist.
