6:50 AM	Observability is the key to success in Production - Joseph Njogu	Upon the completion of building applications, deployment follows and does not stop there. The application needs monitoring and observability to ensure efficient service delivery. A lot of time is taken running applications rather than building these applications. During their running lifetime, three things need to be considered: 1. Logs 2. Metrics 3. Traces These three, results in what we refer to as successful monitoring and observability. The question now becomes, how do we collect these metrics, how do we collect logs, and how do we get the traces? In this session, we will dive into observability and grasp what we need to do, what tools we need to use, etc to achieve this. #Grafana #Prometheus #GCP #NewRelic #Cloud

11:20 AM	How to get started with Large Language Models and Generative AI using Vertex AI on GCP - James Mwai	Large language models (LLMs) and Generative AI are rapidly transforming the way we interact with computers and the world around us. Large language models (LLMs) are a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that are trained on massive datasets of text and code. LLMs can be used to generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way. Generative AI is a field of AI that focuses on developing algorithms that can create new content, such as text, code, and images. Generative AI models can be used to generate realistic images, create new products and services, and even write original works of fiction. Vertex AI is a managed machine learning platform on Google Cloud that makes it easy to train, deploy, and manage large language models and integrate them with your applications. Vertex AI provides a variety of tools and services for working with LLMs and generative AI, including: - Powerful pre-trained custom models - PALM Large Language model which can be accessed via PALM API - Foundation Models - Generative AI studio - Vertex AI model garden... and many more This presentation will provide an introduction to LLMs, generative AI, and Vertex AI. We will discuss the basics of these technologies, as well as their applications in modern software development. The talk will include a hands-on demo on how a developer can deploy and integrate large language model capabilities in their application with the help of the Vertex AI platform on GCP.
