4:10 PM	Cloud Functions for Firebase – What, when, how and how not?	After a brief presentation of the main Firebase services dedicated to application development, we will do a deep dive into Cloud Functions for Firebase, during which we will cover: - The "what" (capabilities, trigger types, ...), - The "when" (backend business logic, data manipulation, integration with GCP or microservices, ...), - The "how" (best practices, tips, and tricks, deployment options, …) - And finally the "how not" (anti-patterns, common mistakes). The presentation will mix theory, code excerpts, and real-time demos.
5:40 PM	Protecting Your Cloud Data - An Intro to Firebase Security Rules	If you store your data in the cloud you need to think about protecting that data. What if a user uploads offensive content to Firestore Storage, wipes your Firestore collection, or manipulates a Firestore RealtimeDB record? In this talk, I will demonstrate how to use server-side Firebase security rules to define access patterns and to block malicious operations on your cloud data. While I will focus on Firestore for time reasons, the techniques demonstrated are almost directly applicable to the other Firestore cloud products: RealtimeDatabase and Firestore Storage.
