7:00 AM	Building tech products for Gen Z - the world's largest generation	Jacquelin Hansel We are in the midst of a generational landmark, as Generation Z continues to grow their influence and now makes up over 30% of the world population. With Gen Z entering adulthood and the workforce, their buying power is increasing rapidly (Business Insider estimated their spending power at over $360 billion) and Gen Z will soon be the most important customer segment for many companies. And even though it’s known that GenZ is the most technologically advanced and socially diverse group with different priorities and goals than prior generations, many companies have not yet started to shift their focus on the increasingly important generation. Many older generations are still dismissing Gen Z as an entitled or social-media-addicted generation, even though now is the time for companies to deepen their understanding of Gen Z users and strategically invest in Gen Z focused products. But what should tech companies do to create a product that Gen Z will like? In the last year, my team at YouTube has shifted their focus on Gen Z and I have first-hand experience of what it takes to change your team culture and start building products that Gen Z loves.
