About this event

We are celebrating this year's Hacktoberfest (https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/) with an inspiring talk from Rizel (https://blackgirlbytes.dev/).

Have you ever contributed to an Open Source project? Would you like to and are not sure how to start?

All of us rely on Open Source software and many would love to contribute. But there are many obstacles. Rizel came along some of them and will tell us all about it.

Rizel is a Junior Developer Advocate at GitHub. She moonlights as the Director of Programs at G{Code} House, an organization aimed at teaching women of color and non-binary people of color to code. Rizel believes in leveraging vulnerability, honesty, and kindness as means to educate early-career developers.

This event takes places online only on Zoom.

Because you asked: We are not hacking together, this is just a talk about how to contribute to Open Source - but we are happy to organize an event like that in the future :) Hit us with your ideas.
