About this event

International Women Day by GDG Gaza has been held on Saturday the 18th of March in Gaza and Nablus. The event took place at Al-Mathaf hotel in Gaza and it started at 10:00 AM till 4:00 PM.

The schedule was going perfect and we started by introducing GDG and Women Techmakers then we started the first session with Ghadeer Abu-Oda talking about Machine learning and deep learning and mentioning Tensorflow as one of the used techniques for machine learning.

We have organized with Dr. Rawia Radi to be the speaker of this session, but due to a sever emergency she has suggested Ghadeer instead of her and the session was super awesome, we are thinking about recording a video with Ghadeer in order to share her experience in machine learning on our social media channels.

After Ghadeer, we started the second session connecting online with Eman Hylooz the founder of Abjjad talking about her entrepreneurship experience and her startup Abjjad with the attendees.

And the last speaker of this session was Haifa Bsieso, a very famous traveler and youtuber, we have presented a recorded video of Haifa' specially done for IWD talking to the girls and inspiring them by her story.

We also had Aseel Hanoon and Mohammed Abo El Qomboz, they both gave motivational sessions for the girls and the attendees were very happy. After a coffee break, we started a challenge between Gaza and Nablus, each of us asking a question to the attendees on the other side and the person who give the right answer received a gift.
The session was supposed to be conducted over Skype, but due to Internet connection problem in Nablus, we have been in contact over phone call.

The session finished and the attendees were very active and ready for a new technical session with Safa Lulu talking about Cloud Security, this session was very good as there was a discussion all the time between the attendees, the speaker and the conversation went very smoothly.

Finishing the talk about Cloud Security, we have hosted lunch for the attendees.

After that Maryam Lulu has led a debate session between two entrepreneurs and other two freelancers giving the girls the opportunity to differentiate between the two terms and the two jobs by showing real stories.

A panel discussion with three female leaders in Gaza followed the debate session. This session has been moderated by Ghadeer Abushaban asking the speakers some questions to help the attendees identify their career paths starting from the University level till the current period of their lives.

There were a lot of fun activities, we had a board for the girls to share their success stories, most favorite quotes and inspiring sentences.

Lots of them gave us a very awesome feedback on the board and they were very happy at the end of the event.

We had around 150 applicants registered for the event and around 70 attendees were accepted and invited officially, more than 90% of them were female.
