Three years ago today (March 18) we held our first Google Developer Group Denver celebration of International Women's Day and Women Techmakers. About 75 women gathered for a wine tasting session with a sommelier.

Last year hundreds of women gathered at a Women Who Startup co-organized celebration with speakers and some amazing technology from the Google Cloud Platform team (Cloudspin).

This year, we are getting creative again and joining up with Pink Vail, the world's largest ski day to conquer cancer.

We will have Kristy Lee Gogolen on site at Pink Vail. Kristy is a Colorado Women Techmaker who runs a small business and volunteers with girls in STEM programs. We are really excited to have her join us!

More about Kristylee Gogolen:

Kristylee Gogolen founded KL Creative Design, a web and mobile technology group, in 2005. Starting out as a freelancer, she slowly worked her way up to a traditional business model, learning along the way the ins and outs of running a business, such as client, project and employee management and strategic marketing. KL Creative has grown in leaps and bounds with sales doubling in the last two years alone. Never content with the status quo, Kristy Lee continually teaches herself new skills and challenges herself to move out of her comfort zone.

Unsatisfied with existing web development software, Kristy Lee learned WordPress plugin development and has created several plugins that are in regular use. She also mastered iPhone development, an entirely different programming language, and created an iPhone app with over 12K downloads. Through this foray into Xcode, she founded LadyBits Dev, the mobile division of KL Creative.

Working as a freelancer with some excellent mentors and clients, Kristy Lee has been lucky to avoid many of the prejudices women in tech face. Having learned about the issues of women in STEM and the extreme imbalance of the male to female ratio in the STEM workforce, she is working to bring about change. Kristy Lee volunteers with girls in a STEM program and recently taught a rapt group of 7th graders how to build an iPhone game!

KL loves to hang out with kids of all ages and has regularly volunteered her time mentoring for at-risk youth throughout her life. Volunteer positions range from teaching snowboarding with SOS, one on one mentoring at a skatepark, organizing trips and meet ups for kids, building skateparks for local communities and building houses in third world countries.

As a small business owner herself, she has a passion to see entrepreneurs succeed and grow. She can be tempted away from her computer by great snow, mountain wildflowers, and shiny motorcycles.
