About this event

Women Techmakers Cyprus has been instantiated by 2 ambassadors of the global Women Techmakers community that are passionate about technology and would love to provide resources and help to the local community. The purpose of the community is to connect, empower and encourage each and every single woman in tech to understand and pursue her passion in any technology related field. How will we do that? Through inspiring stories, learn hands-on via design sprints and codelabs, meetups, mentoring, confident workshops etc.

During this talk we'll be kicking off Women Techmakers Cyprus! Whether you are a student, currently looking for a job, in your early career stage, or just interested in technology, this event is for you! We'll tell you all about our plans on how we want to help women in tech grow!

About the Speakers:
Galatia Partheniou has studied Computer Science at the University of Sheffield and acquired her MSc in Mobile Application Development at the University of Kent. With her great passion for android development, she currently has over 4 years of experience in developing native apps for the platform. She has worked in London, United Kingdom for a few startups before moving back to Cyprus where she currently works as a Senior Android Developer at BDSwiss in Limassol. The passion she has for development and learning led her to become an organising member of the GDG Cyprus community and continues to grow her volunteering activities to help the developers community as much as possible.

Melpo Pittara is currently a scientist specialist of the Department of Computer Science at University of Cyprus focusing on matters of eHealth, Machine Learning and Virtual Reality. At the same time, she is a PhD Candidate of the Department of Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligent at University of Groningen. She is a graduate of the University of Cyprus holding a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Biomedical Engineering. During her University time she received various honours for her strong presence, the bright prospect in the community and the various volunteering initiatives, who continuous until now.
