In this talk there will be an introduction to what Docker is, what made it special and why it has gotten to be so popular. Speakers: Andreas Lefkatis graduated from University of Sheffield and University of Kent with an MComp and MSc. He has worked for several companies in London and Cyprus and he is now a Senior Software Engineer at NCR. Andreas is also a founding member of GDG Cyprus and a member of the Hack Cyprus board.
Additionally a demonstration will take place showing how one can containerize an application and how to deploy it on the cloud as a container.
Lastly a presentation about Rancher and Kubernetes will conclude the talk demonstrating how to orchestrate containers and form them in clusters.
Valentinos Papasavvas is a Lead developer in Mindgeek where he is in charge of one of the biggest and high traffic products of Mindgeek. He studied Computer Science in Crete/Heraklion and did a Master in Sheffield. He worked for 5 years as a Web Developer in the UK at a small Digital Agency company which was a growth experience for him and also worked in one of the biggest online retailers of short dated and residual stock food, by optimizing the internal web application that was responsible for order packing and picking. He is part of the Hack Cyprus board.
