Title: Five things we learned building an enterprise cloud platform on GCP at PAYBACK

Speaker: Thomas Falkenberg, Head of Engineering @ Payback

Description: If you are new to the cloud or have difficulties scaling and maintaining your cloud platform without jeopardising compliance, security and stability, this session is for you. One year ago we started from almost zero to a running platform for multiple product teams based on the Google Cloud Platform. We made a lot of decisions on the way and are constantly challenged to find the right balance between standardisation and compliance and team autonomy. I will share our major learnings which range from why bother with cloud in the first place, to tuning cloud-build and terraform executions up to running a successful platform team and how to collaborate with product teams.

Title: Succeeding at sorting sensitive streams at scale using Aiven on Google Cloud

Speaker: Ben Gamble, Developer Relations Manager @ Aiven

Description: In this interactive session I'll walk through building out an API driven data plane that scales across GCP regions and respects residency rules in real time. Why do this? because app users need data, and they want it NOW. Sending personalized data streams to and from users has become critical for success. Whether it is social media, ad tech, or fintech, the data volumes and UX demands are increasing. All the while regulations are getting tighter. We'll explore building streaming systems, and building a bigquery data warehouse that can handle the scale, velocity and privacy needs of the modern real time application using Avien's managed version of Kafka.
