About this event

In this meetup we will explore some of the machine learning technologies available on Google Cloud Platform to aid with image recogniton including Cloud Vision API, Tensorflow and the recently announced Cloud AutoML.

PRESENTATION 1; IMAGE RECOGNITION FOR NON-EXPERTS USING GCP
This talk shows how we built a system for one of Australia's major telecommunication provider's that uses image recognition to detect Ad Breaches. Our first version makes use of Google’s Cloud Vision API. We'll discuss how to use the Cloud Vision API in your applications, what it is good at, what it is not.

We will then look at using transfer learning to improve our system’s ability to recognise Ad Breaches. I will look at how we can use the popular Tensorflow library to build our own image recognition model. Tensorflow comes with several pre-trained models for image recognition - using these I will show you how to build your own specialised image recognition models in a fraction of the time, and with a fraction of the input data, by re-using existing pre-trained layers from the best models out there.

Gareth Jones is a Melbourne based consultant at Shine Solutions. Working on Big Data, Machine Learning, and other buzzwords. He also maintains the popular(ish) node.js logging package log4js-node.

PRESENTATION 2: INTRO TO GOOGLE CLOUD AUTOML VISION
Cloud AutoML is a suite of Machine Learning products that enables developers with limited machine learning expertise to train high quality models by leveraging Google’s state of the art transfer learning, and Neural Architecture Search technology. AutoML Vision is the first product to be released. It is a simple, secure and flexible ML service that lets you train custom vision models for your own use cases.
