Talks

Talk 1: I can code, can you write? Sincerely, A Tech Writer - Monika Bhatt

A crucial yet overlooked part of software development is Tech Writing. However, there are hardly any developers who know what Tech Writing is, understand how it works, or understand where it fits into the software development lifecycle. Additionally, honestly speaking, most developers write crappy docs. This session will have some tips and tricks on writing clear documentation that is useful to everyone.

With my talk, I’d like to give context about the emerging field of tech writing, the interdisciplinary collaboration between development and writing, the amount of coding required in Tech Writing, and some tips and tricks on how developers can incorporate effective communication skills into their daily workflow and make life easier for everyone.

About the speaker:

Monika is currently working as a Senior Technical Writer at Canva and has over a decade of experience in tech writing in freelance as well as full-time projects for more than 25 companies. Prior to Canva, she worked for Transport for NSW projects, and also worked as a Senior Technical Writer in Nepal.

Monika holds a Masters in Information Technology and a Bachelors in Electronics and Communication Engineering degree.

Talk 2:  Supercharge your database and apps with Cloud SQL’s developer centric features and innovation -  Mohamed Kabiruddin

Tired of managing your own databases? Want to focus on building awesome applications instead of wrestling with infrastructure? Join us for a deep dive into Google Cloud SQL, a fully managed relational database service for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.

In this session, we'll explore how Cloud SQL simplifies your development experiences and boosts your application performance. We’ll discuss the unique developer experiences and tools for database management, observability and integrations with other cloud services.

Whether you're a seasoned cloud developer or just getting started, this session will equip you with the knowledge and tools to leverage the power of Cloud SQL for your next project. Come ready to learn, ask questions, and connect with fellow developers!

About the Speaker:

Mohamed Kabiruddin is a Senior Product Manager at Google, focusing on Google Cloud SQL and cloud databases. Since joining Google in 2022, he has been part of the Core Information Retrieval team, where he manages data infrastructure and products that leverage vector search and retrieval-augmented generation. His work aims to deliver high-quality, low-latency information to users worldwide. Prior to his current role, Mohamed led similar initiatives at Microsoft, specializing in cloud database services and data modernization.
