About this event

Welcome everyone to the first in-person meetup for GDG Cloud Perth!

We're thrilled to kick off this group with two awesome talks lined up for you.

(please ensure your microphone is muted - thanks)

First up we have Aurélien & Zaynab from Google joining us for a talk on: Internet domain names - common attacks and staying protected: how to easily leverage cloud services to your advantage.

How combining public data, some common sense and using serverless enables you to protect your company's or your personal domain names. In this session, you'll learn how 3rd party actors are leveraging public information about your domains to impersonate your business and get confidential information. We'll continue with how you could easily prevent this from happening. And using modern cloud services we'll show you how to stay one step ahead with minimal efforts and maximum reward.

Secondly Marcelo from Mechanical Rock will be presenting a quick talk on the differences between GCP's container and serverless offerings.

When trying to decide which GCP service is best suited to host and run your cloud native application it's important to consider costs, scalability and performance. I will discuss the key differences between GCP's serverless and container solution offerings.

The format of the event is as follows:

About the speakers:

Aurelien Requiem, Customer Engineer based in Melbourne. Aurelien enjoys technology as much as he enjoys cheese, crusty baguettes and wine. He believes security is everyone's responsibility and developing software from a specification is as easy as walking on water, as long as both are frozen.

Zaynab Shah, Customer Engineer based in Melbourne. Zaynab loves helping customers build solutions using modern technologies. Outside of work, Zaynab enjoys making coffee and exploring the local cafes in Melbourne

Marcelo Aravena, Head of Infrastructure Modernisation at Mechanical Rock, based out of Perth. With a high-performance computing background and computer vision enthusiast, he enjoys helping people embark on the journey to cloud native technologies.
